Lakes and Peaks in Rila Mountain
The self-guided trip was a nice choice for people at our age who prefer walking on their own pace and stop often for picnics and photos.
The transfer vehicles were always on time and the drivers were mainly talkative young boys! Some of the days we were running late and called the company to ask if the driver could wait for us. They assured us that the driver will wait within one hour and even called us back to make sure we arrived safely at the gathering point.
The maps could have been better but the route notes are perfect so it was easy to follow the direction.
Hotels were perfect choice of coziness, clean and quiet with good restaurants.
We would advise this trip to all of our friends considering a journey to Bulgaria.
Trip
It was an amazing trip. Lovely hike around Rila mountains. Very good accommodation options and local food. Love Bulgaria xx
My trip to Bulgaria
I’ve wanted to visit Bulgaria for a while. When I arrived I was pleasantly surprised by the level of professionalism involved in organizing the trip. The hotels were clean, the transport was perfectly time and the instructions were quite easy to understand. They did everything they could to make sure that we can focus in the hiking experience and I loved it.
Good week journey
Really nice walks at Rila and Rodopi. The Rila is very high and rockier, but Rodopi was brilliant, green and beautiful. We totally enjoy every day of the program.
Rila and Pirin trecks
Super tracks, easy to follow the information on the roadbook and the maps. We do not even use the GPS. The good old fashion way. Transfer service always on time. Food and hotels were great.
Thank you Traventuria
We have made a booking for a self-guided tour in Bulgaria. A combination of Vitosha and Rila mountains. We strongly reccommend this tour. We didn’t know what expect, but it was totaly a great value for money.
Thank you to the tour agency for the whole organization.
Excellent
We had excellent holiday. Thank you Martin!
Pirin and Rila
We’ve been talking about hiking through the Piren Mountain and Rila for a long time and we finally did it. It was an amazing trip and I’m already going to go back and hike some more of it. The scenery is stunning. The terrain is chalenging but rewarding and the rifugios are frequent and comfortable.
Our experience
Bulgaria was an interesting experience for us.
The mountain guide was waiting for us at the Sofia airport together with three other people from the group, and we all headed to the first hotel in town Bansko together. A lovely little town with an interesting culture and history. Bansko is a famous ski resort in the winter, and beautiful and peaceful in the summer.
We had time for a walk before dinner. The hotel was clean and cozy with wonderful food.
The next day we set off according to the program to Polezhan Peak. We passed by a beautiful lake with an interesting story that the guide told us.
The next day was a longer walk, many interesting and scenic views. We saw cows in the meadow, there were dogs around but they were friendly.
It was quite a challenging climb on the fourth day, but the guide helped me and I managed to enjoy the views.
On day 5 we travelled to the other mountain. The nature is very interesting and you can notice the difference between the two mountains.
The next day we visited the seven rila lakes. I had seen pictures before, but in person the view is amazing, especially from the top where you can see them all.
In the evening we stayed in a family hotel in the village of Govedartsi. The food was amazing and the family that welcomed us was so friendly
The next day we headed to the highest peak in the country. The weather was great and I had the opportunity to take a lot of pictures. The climb was long and challenging, but the views were worth it.
The last day of our adventure was a lot of fun. We already knew the rest of the group well after so many days together. We traveled back to Sofia and planned our next trip together.
The mountain guide was an outstanding professional. Besides the wonderful adventures, he managed to make a group of friends out of all of us.
Thank you all for the great Bulgarian journey.
Love hiking in Bulgaria
I cannot recommend this trip enough. The communication pre-tour was brilliant and our guide Ivan was the best hiking guide I have ever had. The hiking was brilliant too – Bulgaria is an absolutely beautiful country and everyone is so friendly. We had a great group too. And the seven Rila Lakes were epic. I didn’t want to come home!
